In a surprising turn of events, beloved comedian-TV host Allan K has recently come forward with shocking details about his tenure on the iconic noontime show Eat Bulaga.
In an exclusive interview with reporter-turned-YouTuber Julius Babao, Allan K disclosed that he was offered a substantial deal by Television and Production Exponents Inc (TAPE) just to stay on as a host.
According to Allan K, the whole “Dabarkads” ensemble was let go, with the exception of himself, Jose Manalo, and Wally Bayola. In his conversation with Julius Babao, Allan K revealed that TAPE Inc, under the direction of the Jalosjos family, intended to retain the three original hosts of ‘Eat Bulaga.’ It wasn’t until February that they began to sense something peculiar was happening behind the scenes of the beloved show.
During a crucial general meeting, Allan K, along with Jose Manalo and Wally Bayola, found themselves approached with an enticing offer to remain part of the ‘Eat Bulaga’ family. They were promised double their compensation, but with a catch: all hosts other than the iconic TVJ trio would be ousted from the long-running program.
“All the way back in the first general meeting…right there and then, they announced that Jose, Wally, and Allan would be retained,” Allan K shared. “The three of us were called for a meeting and we were offered this much. We told them, ‘It’s not an easy decision, can you give us some time?'” he added.
Notably, Allan K also revealed that even Maine Mendoza, popularly known as “Yaya Dub,” was initially intended to be let go. However, TAPE Inc had a change of heart. During their second meeting, Maine was included in the enticing offer of double wages.
“During the second meeting, Maine was already included, and she was part of the double your price!” the comedian divulged to Julius during the interview.
Tony Tuviera, the former CEO and President of TAPE, seemingly found himself powerless, having lost control of the production company. Allan K expressed his relief that he, along with the rest of the team, has found a new home at TV5, where their highly anticipated new show is set to premiere on July 1.
As the curtain falls on one chapter, fans eagerly await the next phase of TVJ’s journey as they embark on their new program on TV5. Following the departure of Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey De Leon from TAPE Inc on May 31, the trio confirmed their new venture, along with several former ‘Eat Bulaga’ hosts, who have chosen to stand by their side. At present, fans are eagerly anticipating the announcement of the name of their new noontime show in their new home.
As we approach July, excitement builds among the audience, curious to witness the next chapter in TVJ’s story as they kick off their highly-anticipated program on TV5. It’s worth mentioning that in various interviews, Joey De Leon, one of the original hosts of ‘Eat Bulaga,’ has expressed hope that they will be able to secure the name of the longest-running noontime show, an idea he himself allegedly conceived.
