As of 2:09 PM, floodwaters measuring up to 12 inches have inundated Mandaluyong’s Boni Ave. f. Ortigas, causing traffic disruptions and posing a threat to nearby communities. Manila’s RMB Pureza WB was also hit hard, with water levels reaching 8 inches as of 3:17 PM, leading to further challenges for commuters and emergency responders.
In Caloocan, the situation was dire on McArthur Highway Calle Uno NB at 4:41 PM, where 8 inches of water submerged the area. Additionally, Quezon City faced severe flooding, with EDSA Darrio Bridge and EDSA Balintawak LRT Station NB both affected by 8-10 inches of water as of 4:50 PM.
The flood crisis did not relent as the day progressed, with EDSA Ortigas POEA experiencing 6-8 inches of water at 5:00 PM, followed by E-rod Araneta, Quirino Pedro Gil EB/WB, and Roxas Blvd. Kalaw, all enduring 8 inches of flooding by 5:41 PM.
However, there was a glimmer of hope as the flood in MacArthur Highway Calle Uno NB subsided at 5:38 PM, easing the burden on the affected community. Nevertheless, the challenges persisted, and at 5:11 PM, C5 Kalayaan, u-turn slot service road was inundated with 8 inches of water.
As the clock struck 5:27 PM, the flood reached “gutter deep” levels at Quirino Ave. Pedro Gil EB/WB and worsened to the same depth at Roxas Blvd. Kalaw SB/NB at 5:40 PM, causing severe distress for residents living in these areas.
Manila City faced several areas submerged under water, including NBI Taft, UN Taft, PNU Taft, Manila City Hall, Padre Faura, Quirino Taft, Kalaw, Maria Orosa cor. P. Burgos, and Finance Road, all affected by varying degrees of flooding as of 5:47 PM.
Local authorities, emergency services, and volunteers are working tirelessly to rescue affected residents and manage the rising waters.
