Biden’s Fiery Fiction- Compares Small Kitchen Fire at Delaware Home to Maui’s Massive Wildwires

In a twist that seems straight out of a satirical script, U.S. Pres. Joe Biden has once again found himself in the spotlight for an unusual comparison. This time, it involved relating the tragic Maui wildfires to a minor kitchen fire he experienced years ago.

As Fox News host Jesse Watters swiftly pointed out, the comparison was far from accurate, sparking controversy amid ongoing criticism of Biden’s penchant for gaffes and inaccurate statements.

The 80-year-old president, no stranger to the world of politics, embarked on this storytelling adventure during a meeting with survivors of the devastating Maui wildfires. He endeavored to connect with the residents of Lahaina, whose picturesque town fell victim to a wildfire on August 8, claiming numerous lives and reducing historical landmarks to ashes.

Biden’s narrative harks back to a sunny Sunday 15 years ago when lightning struck near his Wilmington, Delaware home. The incident resulted in a minor kitchen fire, which local authorities swiftly extinguished. He narrated, “And it hit a wire and came up underneath our home into the heating ducts, air conditioning ducts. And to make a long story short, I almost lost my wife, my ’67 Corvette, and my cat.”

The president also took a moment to salute the firefighters who rushed into the flames to save his family. He underscored the gravity of the situation, declaring, “Not a joke.”

However, this tale is not a new addition to Biden’s repertoire, and it has faced scrutiny before. At the time of the kitchen fire incident, local fire chief George Lamborn reported that the blaze was “under control in 20 minutes.” According to the Associated Press, it was a “small fire that was contained to the kitchen,” and no injuries were reported. Jill Biden, the president’s wife, had contacted emergency services to report the incident.

Fox News host Jesse Watters didn’t waste time addressing the discrepancy in Biden’s story. He remarked, “Biden never lost his home from a lightning strike. He had a small kitchen fire that was contained in less than 20 minutes.” Watters went on to criticize Biden for attempting to draw parallels between his minor incident and the devastating wildfires in Hawaii, further fueling the ongoing debates about the president’s propensity for embellished stories.

The controversy surrounding Biden’s storytelling doesn’t stop at this incident. Over his nearly half-century-long career in politics, he has often been accused of making inaccurate statements or embellishing his past.

From claims of close ties to the Puerto Rican community during his early political career, despite minimal Puerto Rican presence in Delaware, to assertions of multiple arrests while protesting for civil rights, for which no evidence has been found, Biden’s storytelling style has faced intense scrutiny.
