Tucker Carlson to Hungarians: ‘American Liberal Lunatics Hate You Because You’re a Christian Country’

Tucker Carlson, the prominent face of Elon Musk’s X platform, formerly Twitter, made headlines once again with his recent speech in Budapest, Hungary. In his fiery address, he condemned the Biden Administration for its stance on Hungary, stating they are “spending their time harassing one of our last sincere allies in Europe.”

On the X platform, Carlson’s speech quickly went viral, amassing over nearly a million views, 40,000 likes, and 11,000 retweets in less than 2 hours. In the tweet, Carlson wrote, “The world is realigning at high speed, and turning against the United States. But the Biden Administration is spending its time harassing one of our last sincere allies in Europe, Hungary, for the crime of being too Christian. Watch.”

During his speech in front of an enthusiastic Hungarian audience, Carlson started with humor, jesting, “It’s so nice to be in this retrograde, right-wing hellscape. It’s my second time in Hungary, and both times I had exactly the same reaction.” He then went on to praise Hungarian cuisine, calling it “amazing” and expressing admiration for the Hungarian language, even though he admitted he couldn’t speak it. He noted that Hungary didn’t seem like a “right-wing hellscape” to him at all but rather resembled America from the 1980s.

Comparing Hungary to the United States, Carlson questioned whether the definition of a “dangerous, rogue right-wing country” had changed since his childhood.

However, Carlson shifted from compliments to a more serious tone, addressing the behavior of the American ambassador to Hungary, David Pressman, who has been critical of Hungary’s close relations with Russia and vocal about what he views as anti-gay legislation in the country. Carlson didn’t mince words, labeling Pressman’s behavior as “disgusting and inexcusable” and criticizing his deviation from diplomatic norms.

Carlson emphasized that diplomacy is about convincing other nations to support your stance on matters that benefit your country, not “hectoring” them. He called Pressman a political activist who threatened and condemned Hungary for not aligning with American liberal ideals, which Carlson believed did more harm than good.

He asserted that it wasn’t the business of the U.S. government to dictate beliefs or undermine other cultures, emphasizing that diplomats should aim to win others over. Carlson called for Pressman’s removal, expressing embarrassment that such behavior represented his country.

Carlson also criticized the Biden administration for what he deemed as a similar approach to Soviet tyranny, accusing them of pushing their woke identitarian politics on the American people.

“The Soviets told you you had to worship Lenin. The State Department tells you you have to worship transvestites. It’s not so different. It’s a foreign power pushing its weird boutique religion on you, and it’s wrong! You worship whatever you want, it’s your country,” he said.

Defending Hungary, Carlson highlighted that it is not an expansionist nation seeking global hegemony like the United States. He claimed that Hungary was targeted not for its actions but for being a Christian country, albeit a soft one. In contrast, he argued that the U.S. had been taken over by “lunatics.”

“They hate Hungary. And they hate it not because of what it’s done but because of what it is. It’s a Christian country and they hate that. And that’s the truth,” he said, adding Hungary is not even a theocracy but a soft Christian country.
