Makati City was abuzz as dedicated gadget fan Joey Reyes made quite the entrance at the midnight launch of the highly anticipated iPhone 15.

Reyes, known for his vibrant yellow pantsuit, had previously garnered attention when he was the first to acquire the iPhone 14 during a similar midnight launch at an Apple store in Greenbelt 3, Makati City, on October 14, 2022.

Now, he’s back and even more committed to securing the latest model.

Reyes, who hails from Cebu, traveled all the way to Makati City for the grand event. He passionately shared his perspective, stating that investing his hard-earned money in the iPhone 15 is a wise choice, considering it as more than just a phone but an investment in the latest technology.

Reyes, eager to get his hands on the coveted device, began queuing as early as Monday.

His dedication was not a one-time occurrence, as he was also the first customer to purchase an iPhone 14 at the same store last year.

It’s clear that he takes his role as a tech trailblazer seriously.

Joey Reyes, a self-proclaimed tech enthusiast, shared his financial commitment to securing the latest iPhone models.

“Sales lang ako. Pangarap ko maka-iPhone. Tiniis ko po budget budget para makabili bago. Kasi love ko talaga,” Reyes said to reporters that year. 

“Tipid talaga: Pagkain, pamasahe, at gastusin. ‘Yung mga kaibigan sa trabaho nanghihingi lang ako ulam. ‘Yung pangbili ng ulam, nilalagay ko sa alkansya ko. Minsan, nakiki-angkas sa katrabaho. Nag-ambag din ibang kaibigan ko,” he added.

“Pero sulit… the best, kasi iPhone 14, worth it. Magagamit ko ‘yan sa trabaho,” Reyes further said.

While Reyes’s dedication was admired by some, it also drew sarcastic comments from netizens.

One remarked with irony, “Amazing accomplishment, congratulations, sir Joey. Your parents must be very proud to have a son like you… Bravo!”

Another netizen couldn’t help but ponder the practicality of the investment, questioning, “Investment, how? Next year, iPhone 16 will come out, and iPhone 15 will be devalued.”
