Kash Patel, a former member of the Trump White House with roles in intelligence and defense, recently made shocking claims during an interview with Steve Bannon.
Patel alleged that a high-level Iranian spy ring has successfully infiltrated the Biden administration, leading to growing concerns about the ongoing Middle East crisis.
“I laid it out in my op-ed last week, the groundwork about the intentional intelligence failures of the Biden regime has led to this world war IV,” Patel stated, emphasizing what he perceived as a severe lapse in intelligence within the current administration.
Patel went on to discuss what he saw as a shift in intelligence priorities under the Biden administration, with a focus moving away from border security, counterterrorism efforts, and foreign policy matters involving Iran and China.
Key to Patel’s allegations is Maher Bitar, the head of intelligence programs in the White House National Security shop.
Patel underscored the significance of Bitar’s role and claimed that Bitar is pro-Hamas and pro-Palestinian, further suggesting that Bitar is overseeing U.S. intelligence operations.
Robert Malley, the top envoy for Iran within the Biden administration, is another key figure in Patel’s allegations.
“This is the guy in charge of the intelligence operations for the United States of America. That’s step one. Step two— Robert Malley, the number one envoy. The guy that’s supposed to be keeping us out of war in Iran has his security clearance suspended by Chris Wray’s FBI,” Patel said.
Patel revealed that the FBI suspended Malley’s security clearance, raising questions about the reasons behind this significant decision. Patel is a strong advocate for public and congressional awareness of the events that led to the suspension.
He disclosed that the revocation of Malley’s security clearance is tied to the appointment of an Iranian national, Ariane Tabatabai, who currently holds a significant position within the Department of Defense.
Patel underscored that in 2014, Tabatabai had contacted Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, seeking permission to travel on behalf of the U.S. government as a U.S. citizen.
“Do you know what she did in 2014?” Patel asked. “She emailed Iranian foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and asked for permission as a U.S. citizen to take a trip on behalf of the US government. This individual is still employed at the DOD.”

The core of the allegations against and Tabatabai is rooted in a collection of Iranian government emails.
These emails have been reported on by several news outlets, including Jay Solomon, a seasoned Wall Street Journal correspondent, and the London-based opposition outlet, Iran International.
These emails have undergone thorough verification and suggest that Malley played a central role in placing Tabatabai in sensitive positions within the U.S. government, initially at the State Department and later at the Pentagon.
In a recent congressional committee hearing, Christopher Maier, the assistant secretary of defense for special operations, expressed deep concerns about the granting of top-secret special compartmented information to Tabatabai, TabletMag, reported.
This has prompted an internal inquiry within the Department of Defense
The emails also suggest that Tabatabai was part of a propaganda unit formed by the Iranian Foreign Ministry in 2014, known as the Iran Experts Initiative (IEI). This unit aimed to promote Iranian interests during negotiations with the United States regarding Iran’s nuclear weapons program.
Members of the IEI, including Tabatabai, are alleged to have utilized their Iranian heritage and Western academic positions to influence U.S. policy toward Iran.
These efforts are believed to have received support from Malley, who has served as the U.S. government’s chief interlocutor with Iran under both the Obama and Biden administrations.
The U.S. State Department refrained from characterizing these events as a “spy ring,” while the Defense Department has not yet commented on Tabatabai’s role.
“We have seen the Semafor article, which does not presume it was a ‘spy ring,’ and we reject that characterization. Rob Malley remains on leave and we have no further comment due to privacy considerations. The Biden-Harris administration appointed Ariane Tabatabai to serve various roles in the U.S. government because of her expertise on nuclear and other foreign policy issues,” a State Department spokesman told TabletMag.
