A remarkable tale of forgiveness and the return of a lost fortune unfolded in recent weeks as Ms. Maricor Flores, an entrepreneur, showcased her extraordinary capacity to forgive.
Even though the wife of the taxi driver, who had allegedly stolen her luggage containing an estimated P50 million worth of jewelry and luxury items, received the promised P1 million reward for identifying the suspect, Ms. Flores exhibited a heartwarming display of compassion.
The story began with Ms. Flores unintentionally leaving her luggage at Ninoy Aquino National Airport Terminal 3, filled with precious jewelry, designer bags, and an array of valuable items.
In the midst of her distress, she turned to social media to express her despair, sharing a post by Senator Raffy Tulfo, who had announced a P1 million reward for those capable of identifying the man captured in a photo linked to the theft.
Only days after the substantial reward was announced, the situation took an unexpected twist.
In a live video stream by the Tulfo In Action program on Thursday, the missing luggage, complete with its precious contents, was returned to the TV5 Media Center in Mandaluyong City. The informant behind this turn of events was none other than the wife of the taxi driver suspected of the theft.
The family revealed that the decision to return the stolen items was prompted by guilt and a sudden change of heart by the taxi driver.

Senator Tulfo, upon inspecting the luggage, was convinced that it had not been tampered with.
During an interview, the daughter of the taxi driver stated, “Hindi po yan nauwi sa bahay. Nasa kotse lang po iniwan” (“The luggage was not brought home; it was left in the car”).
The luggage had been in the suspect’s possession for at least a month, according to the senator.
The daughter of the taxi driver, whose identity remained undisclosed, revealed that they had sent the luggage to a police officer via Lalamove but had no knowledge of its contents. They only realized the value of the stolen items after seeing the news.

Ms. Flores was teary-eyed when she was finally reunited with her missing luggage. As the contents were meticulously inspected in her presence, her lawyer and authorities ensured that nothing had been tampered with.
As they opened the luggage, it was revealed that it contained three expensive Hermes bags, jewelry worth millions, and a diamond-studded Patek Philippe watch.
Ms. Flores, with a tremble in her voice, was heard saying, “Sandali po, nanginginig ako” (“Wait a moment, I’m trembling”), as the inventory of the luggage’s contents took place. To her relief, she finally confirmed, “Yes po, everything is complete.”
In a profound demonstration of forgiveness, Ms. Flores accepted the apology offered by the lawyer representing the taxi driver and his family, saying, “Apology accepted po, and I’m very thankful that everything is complete and fully recovered.”
Netizens and the public at large praised Ms. Flores for her exceptional display of compassion, with many expressing their admiration for her character.
In response to the incident, one netizen commented, “Lesson na to for everyone na wag mag interes ng di kanila” (“This is a lesson for everyone not to interfere in things that don’t concern them”).
Regarding the promised P1 million reward, the daughter of the taxi driver declined to accept it as compensation for the inconvenience caused by her family’s actions.
However, Flores demonstrated her compassionate nature by still giving the reward to the wife of the taxi driver, emphasizing her capacity for forgiveness.
Flores, the owner of the recovered items, is the chief executive officer and founder of South Care Cosmetics Manufacturing, Inc. She is known for her involvement in the buying and selling of expensive jewelry as well.
In addition to her cosmetics business, Ms. Flores also manages several other enterprises, including Skin Solutions Cosmeceuticals Inc., Corepoint Solutions, Core Solutions Rebranding Specialist, Instituto Español, Double Dare, Real Perfection, and her most recent business venture, Versions Lifestyle Center.
The story unfolded on October 1, 8 p.m., when CCTV footage captured Ms. Flores arriving at NAIA Terminal 3 with the misplaced suitcase. While waiting for her car to pick her up, a man mistakenly took her luggage, believing it to be his own.
