Billionaire and X (formerly Twitter) owner, Elon Musk, took to his platform once again, this time digging into the contentious issue of election integrity.
In a series of posts, Musk shared a conservative pundit’s tweet that highlighted allegations of what appeared to be institutionalized election fraud within the American Democratic Party.
These allegations played a role in a Connecticut judge’s decision to overturn a mayoral primary election, leading to a renewed examination of the 2020 elections, which saw Joe Biden’s installation in a highly contested presidential race.
Musk shared a post by conservative commentator Benny Johnson, who detailed the judge’s decision to invalidate a Democrat mayoral primary election in Connecticut after discovering evidence of alleged fraud.
Johnson’s post shed light on the allegations of dirty election tactics such as ballot stuffing, advocacy for mail-in ballots and the use of drop boxes, objections to voter ID requirements, and calls for granting voting rights to undocumented immigrants.
In his own words, Musk echoed the sentiment of many who are concerned about election integrity in the US, saying, “Judge orders a new election in Connecticut town after surveillance video showed ballot stuffing in drop boxes! That this happened here is beyond reasonable doubt. The only question is how common it is.”
The core of the issue lies in a Connecticut judge’s recent ruling that overturned the city’s Democratic primary election, originally won by incumbent Mayor Joe Ganim, following allegations of absentee ballot fraud by his opponent, John Gomes.
After two weeks of evidentiary hearings, Judge William Clark ordered a new Democratic primary election based on 180 pieces of evidence presented by Gomes’s legal team.
Judge Clark highlighted the shocking nature of the evidence, particularly video footage presented by Bill Bloss, Gomes’s attorney, during the proceedings. The videos depicted questionable activities related to ballot handling that deeply troubled the court.
Mayor Ganim, one of the individuals questioned in the case, expressed his shock after watching an 18-minute video, subpoenaed by Gomes, that appeared to show multiple instances of ballot handling irregularities.
These included actions by Wanda Geter-Pataky, the vice chair of the Bridgeport Democratic Town Committee, and Eneida Martinez, a former City Council member.
Both Geter-Pataky and Martinez invoked their Fifth Amendment rights against self-incrimination during the hearings. Ganim, who initially appeared to win the primary by 250 votes after counting absentee ballots, denied any involvement in the alleged fraud.
According to state election law, only the ballot applicant, a family member, a police officer, an election official, or a caretaker can return absentee ballots. The video footage indicated that this law had been violated when unauthorized individuals handled and submitted ballots. Additionally, Bloss argued that many of the absentee ballots had been improperly stamped, missing crucial information required by state law.
In response to the election challenge, the Office of the Secretary of the State, represented by Stephanie Thomas, defended the absentee ballots’ validity.
Ultimately, Judge Clark accepted the office’s stance, deeming the stamp “substantially compliant.” However, the compelling video evidence was sufficient to justify Gomes’s request to overturn the primary election.
Musk, known for his outspoken views, also shared a video that purportedly showed a woman engaging in ballot stuffing in broad daylight during the November 2020 Election in Gwinnett County, Georgia. His post connected this incident to the recent case in Connecticut, suggesting that it illustrates a pattern of election fraud by democrats.
In response to Musk’s posts, the online debate raged on.
A parody Elon Musk account commented, “The apple never falls far from the tree,” insinuating that the local election controversy is indicative of a broader trend within the Democratic Party.
One verified X user stated, “The order for a new election is a reflection of our commitment to democracy and ensuring that every vote matters.”
Meanwhile, another user going by the name ‘Democrat No More’ chimed in, saying, “The voters haven’t chosen our leaders in a very long time. The only reason Trump won in 2016 is because they did not expect so many of us to ditch the Democrat party, so they didn’t have enough ballots ready to stuff into the election.”
In a lighter tone, one user jokingly added, “But the Democrats said the elections are more secure than ever.”
