Following her controversial yet historic stint at the Miss Universe 2023 pageant, Michelle Dee returned to the Philippines and addressed the speculations surrounding her relationship with Miss Thailand, Anntonia Porsild.
The self-confessed bisexual beauty queen shared insights during an exclusive chat with the “Unang Hirit” barkada on GMA7 network.
While acknowledging their initial distance, Michelle revealed a surprising camaraderie that developed between her and Porsild.
“Before arriving in El Salvador, we knew Thailand and the Philippines are powerhouse countries in pageantry. The support system is strong. Yes, we didn’t become close right away,” she admitted.
However, she emphasized their shared humor and a growing bond, stating, “When we became close, we really became inseparable.”
Responding to the rumors circulating about a romantic connection between them, Michelle clarified, “Our intention was to show our fans that the Philippines and Thailand are good friends.”
Reflecting on the friendship that blossomed, Dee explained she and Porsild are determined to maintain their friendship.
The “Unang Hirit” hosts pressed further, questioning whether Porsild would visit Michelle in the Philippines.
With a laugh, Michelle replied, “Yes, we both gave invitations to each other.”
This playful exchange echoed the duo’s earlier public interaction where Porsild expressed her intention to visit the Philippines upon Michelle’s invitation.
While the rumors persist, Michelle Dee and Porsild are focused on maintaining their strong bond, regardless of the speculations that have surrounded their connection throughout the Miss Universe 2023 journey.
Reflecting on her Miss Universe journey, Michelle shared her goal: “When I left for El Salvador, my goal was to make the country know I did my best.” Despite securing a Top 10 finish, Dee left an indelible mark, stunning the audience with her Apo Whang-Od inspired evening gown and winning the Best National Costume award.
In an Instagram post, Michelle Dee expressed her gratitude: “With or without the crown, all of you made me feel like I was a winner.” The bayanihan spirit echoed in her words, capturing the essence of her remarkable journey at the Miss Universe 2023 pageant.
