BLACKPINK’s Jennie Ends 2023 with a Bang: Launches Solo Venture OA, Hits Billboard Charts, and Surprises Fans with Holiday Treats!

Jennie, the celebrated BLACKPINK superstar, is closing out 2023 with a bang, revealing a major announcement on Sunday to her massive Instagram following of nearly 83 million.

The K-pop sensation disclosed her plans to launch a new label and company named OA, setting the stage for an exciting solo journey in 2024.

In a heartfelt Instagram Story post, Jennie expressed gratitude for the year’s accomplishments, stating, “I’m also excited about what’s to come, as I start my solo journey in 2024 with a company that I have established called OA. Please show lots of love for my new start with OA and of course, BLACKPINK. Thank you.”

Accompanying her announcement was a black-and-white photo of Jennie, linked to OA’s new Instagram account, which had already garnered an impressive 850,000 followers by Sunday morning.

The new page featured the company’s mission, described by Jennie as creating “new things that attract attention in a different way from what is usual or expected.”

While specifics about her plans for OA remain undisclosed, Jennie’s move follows BLACKPINK’s exclusive contract renewal with YG Entertainment earlier in December.

The quartet, hailed as the most successful K-pop girl group in the U.S., made headlines throughout the year, headlining Coachella and topping the Billboard 200 with their album Born Pink.

Jennie herself achieved significant milestones in 2023, releasing long-awaited solo music, making her acting debut in the HBO drama series The Idol, and receiving an honorary Member of the Order of the British Empire title.

As the year wraps up, Jennie’s latest solo single, “One of the Girls,” makes waves by debuting on the Rhythmic Airplay chart, marking her first entry and making her the first South Korean female musician to achieve this feat.

“One of the Girls” not only opens at No. 40 on the Rhythmic Airplay chart but also propels Jennie onto several other Billboard charts for the first time, including Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, Hot R&B Songs, R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales, and R&B Digital Song Sales.

In the spirit of the season, Jennie surprised her fans with two holiday songs, covering Sia’s “Snowman” and South Korean singer Zion.T’s “Snow,” released on Christmas evening as a special present.

Amidst the festive cheer, the 27-year-old artist’s journey takes a new turn as she officially launches her own brand, ODD ATELIER, shortly after BLACKPINK’s contract renewal with YG Entertainment.

With excitement building for her solo endeavors, Jennie’s fans eagerly anticipate what the new year holds for the multifaceted K-pop sensation.
