Netizens, Including LGBTQ Members, Rally Behind Ellen Adarna, Calling on Radical ‘Pronoun’ Advocates to Cease Entitlement Mentality and Agenda Pushing

Model and former actress Ellen Adarna has become the subject of heated social media discourse after expressing her confusion about the usage of LGBTQ+ pronouns.

Despite the backlash, a significant number of netizens have applauded Adarna for speaking her mind and criticized LGBTQ+ advocate Mela Habijan for what they perceive as a self-entitled woke ideology.

Adarna, responding to an Instagram follower who assumed she was “anti-lgbt” and threatened to unfollow her, clarified her stance, asserting, “I’m not anti; I love them. Na-confuse lang ako sa pronouns, anti na?”

She also highlighted her close connections with the queer community, mentioning her lesbian best friend since high school and numerous gay friends.

The controversy intensified when Adarna equated the confusion surrounding “situationship” with the complexities of non-binary gender and pronouns.

“It is as confusing as the non-binary gender [and] pronouns that are out right now,” she said.

This drew the attention of Miss Trans Global and LGBTQ+ advocate Mela Habijan, who penned an open letter on social media, urging Adarna to be more understanding.

While Habijan advocated for empathy and learning in the face of gender diversity, many netizens took a different stance.

Some lauded Adarna for speaking candidly, applauding her for challenging what they perceived as a rigid and self-entitled woke ideology promoted by advocates like Habijan.

Despite facing criticism from a minority of LGBTQ members and their allies, Adarna received applause from numerous netizens, including individuals from the third sex who were weary of the perceived entitlement mentality, primarily from TQ (trans and queers).

“I am with ellen adarna, as much as we know the diversity of the gender. It is just much confusing that there are lot of terms given already to a simple homosexual/heterosexual/bisexual classification of gender like when and how did the word “binary” even came from,” an X user (@4fangirlinguse) posted.

“I didn’t find the remarks of @ellenaadarna to be offensive. I am a part of the LGBTQ comm and up tp now its really comfusing kasi ang daming sumusulpot na bagong identity. Proof na yung LGBT lang nun tapos ngayon may QIA+++ na,” a self-confessed LBGTQ member commented.

Amid the discussions, dissenting voices emerged, questioning the comparability of gender identity to the precision of mathematics.

Netizens expressed reservations about the imposition of certain ideologies, asserting that the subjective nature of woke perspectives may not align with everyone’s understanding.

“My take on this : As much as I don’t fully understand anything, one thing is for sure, I respect individualism, I respect humans, and I respect whatever your beliefs. You do you. Be you. And I respect you for having the courage to do so,” another X user named Ray Zuin commented.

“Well, im with Ellen. I’m as confused as hell with all the 100+ genders out there and the he/she/them/they pronoun/s. Just like math, I don’t wanna learn more, enough for me that i know the basics. I respect all people for who & what they are,” said another X netizen.

However, what Habijan seems not to realize is that math is an exact science, whereas the woke ideology he/she seeks to promote is subjective. It’s a matter of opinion.

“That doesn’t change the fact that it’s really confusing,” commented a Facebook user.

“Ellen is right. There is only a man and a woman. She has no intention to offend anyone. God only created man & woman; other gender preferences are just created by people, which is why it only ends in failure. Love it or hate it, but that is the Truth,” remarked another netizen.

“I love math. Math is an exact science; you can’t argue with it. Do you know the difference between x and y chromosomes? These are called sex chromosomes: females have XX, and males have XY, and this is science,” responded another Facebook user.

“Don’t expect the world to tiptoe around you,” cautioned another netizen.
