However, KBIZOOM, an online news magazine dedicated to reporting on K-pop, reported why Dispatch did not expose the 2024 ‘New Year Couple.’
The reason? Instead of revealing celebrity couples in a special event, Dispatch chose to focus on reporting the death of veteran actor Lee Sun Kyun, who authorities reported died by suicide.
“Given the magnitude of an event like the passing of Lee Sun Kyun, a recently deceased prominent actor, Dispatch might have chosen to focus on commemorating and extending condolences to the family and fans. The abrupt departure of a star constitutes a significant loss for the entire entertainment industry, emphasizing the importance of respecting and commemorating well-known artists,” KBIZOOM reported.
“Furthermore, Dispatch might be looking to avoid any potential controversies that could arise from announcing a celebrity couple on January 1st this year. Maintaining silence could be a strategy to steer clear of conflicting opinions and foster a more tranquil atmosphere within the entertainment industry, at least for the time being,” it added.
