Self-proclaimed former communist rebel Jeffrey ‘Ka Eric’ Celis is shown talking in a video posted by the pro-Duterte and allegedly pro-China network SMNI, claiming that the CPP-NPA is fomenting political discord among leaders in the country.
In a seemingly propagandistic post designed to gaslight followers of former President Rodrigo Duterte and independents, SMNI’s post on X quoted Celis as saying, “CPP-NPA-NDF, gusto magkagulo ang mga namumuno sa bansa.”
Social media posts claim Celis was a former member of the national operational command of the CPP-NPA, the armed revolutionary group in the country, which, according to media reports, had been coddled by then-Mayor Duterte for decades.
In a video posted by SMNI on Wednesday, January 3, Celis said, “Who would ever imagine na dudurugin, babastusin at ipapahiya ang bise presidente sa pangunguna ng CPP-NPA-NDF if they were not able to correctly read the political landscape between the Duterte-Marcos political factions. Nabasa nila eh!”
This claim seems naive and gaslighting, as many Marcos-Duterte critics who are also anti-communists predicted even before the 2022 national elections that the so-called “UniTeam” party would soon disintegrate, as it is nothing but a political marriage of convenience.
Who is Celis trying to fool? The Dutertards?
The problem for Celis is, we can read cheap talking points like the ones he uttered as well.
Celis’s hilariously stupid gaslighting obviously has the following two-fold goal:
- First, he’s trying to portray that Vice President Sara Duterte is being targeted by the CPP-NPA, and thus, anyone who is against her must be pro-communist.
- Second, he’s trying to make it appear as if the Marcos camp is so stupid not to understand the fact that the CPP-NPA is the architect of the ongoing fight between the Duterte camp and the Marcos-Romualdez camp.
No shit, Sherlock!
In case Celis doesn’t know yet, this is actually what we predicted two years ago. In fact, we’re rooting for all those political powerhouses he mentioned—Duterte, Romualdez, Arroyo, and others—to kill each other.
To frame it as if this is what the communists wanted and that they’re somehow responsible for the widening political rift between the Marcoses and the Dutertes means Celis is either dishonest or politically naive.
We say he’s both!
The Daily Netizen is neither pro-Marcos nor pro-Duterte. We’re not pro-Arroyo, Aquino, or Robredo as well. We’re pro-Philippines.
The worsening political tug-of-war between Marcos and Duterte is like a self-fulfilling prophecy. Again, we predicted it!
We even pictured a scenario wherein either camp would plot the ouster of the other, and it’s all posted on our “original” Facebook page.
Celis is nothing but a snake oil salesman trying to warn us of an obvious danger we already know!
Now, as to his statement that the CPP-NPA is just waiting for the right opportunity—ala Divide and Conquer—to take over, we need to remind him of the simple fact that the communist situation in the Philippines was actually worse in 2016 after Duterte got elected for president and despite his stupid attempt to appease his comrades.
Despite offering a cabinet position to CPP-NPA co-founder JoMa Simon and other cabinet posts to his trusted men, the rebel group still killed our soldiers.
Just look at the following timeline of NPA attacks in May 2016:
- May 14 – Two soldiers were killed while 2 others were wounded in a clash with suspected NPA rebels in Toboso, Negros Occidental.
- May 19 – The NPA claimed responsibility for the killing of a retired policeman in Gingoog, Misamis Oriental.
- May 22 – Suspected NPA rebels attacked a farm workers’ bunkhouse in Sagay, Negros Occidental, resulting in 2 farmers killed and 2 others injured.
- May 23 – Two NPA rebels and 4 soldiers were wounded in a 2-hour firefight in Columbio, Sultan Kudarat.
- May 28 – A soldier was killed while 2 others were wounded in a firefight with NPA rebels in Escalante, Negros Occidental.
- May 29 – Suspected NPA rebels simultaneously attacked a municipal hall and a police headquarters in Davao Oriental. They also abducted the police chief of the police station.
Take note that that was just May of 2016.
Celis can always spout lies, but he’s fooling only his fellow Dutertards. As they say: Huwag kami, KALBO!
