Kris Aquino Reveals She’s in the Final Fight for Her Life: ‘I Can Go Any Time Now, But I Really Want to Stay Alive’

Veteran actress and Philippines’ talk show queen Kris Aquino, in a gripping revelation that sent shockwaves through her millions of fans, disclosed that she is in the ultimate fight for her life.

Speaking candidly in an interview with her close confidant and talk show host Boy Abunda, Aquino’s words resonated with an ominous tone as she expressed her determination to cling to life.

“I really want to stay alive,” Aquino confessed in her poignant exchange with Abunda, a sentiment echoing the fears and prayers of her devoted followers.

Aquino, who celebrated her 53rd birthday on February 14th, shared distressing news about her health journey, disclosing her diagnosis with a fifth autoimmune disease. She revealed the perilous state of her heart, describing it as “so swollen” that she faces a looming threat of cardiac arrest.

“On my Monday papasok ako sa ospital at may susubukan gaming biological na gamot at this is my chance to save my heart,” Aquino somberly disclosed to Abunda, highlighting the critical nature of her upcoming treatment.

“Because kung hindi ito tumalab, Boy, I stand a very strong chance of having cardiac arrest.  As in pwedeng, in my sleep or kung ano man ang ginagawa ko, pwedeng tumigil na lang ang pagtibok ng puso,” she revealed.

Yet, Aquino underscored the gravity of the situation, explaining the prerequisite for receiving the medication.

“There’s a big risk involved with that medicine because it’s not given without first administering steroids. You need it to prevent anaphylactic shock,” she explained, emphasizing the cautious approach her medical team must take to safeguard her well-being.

The beloved personality, who currently resides in California, has been undergoing treatment for her autoimmune conditions since June 2022.

Her health battles date back to 2018 when she was diagnosed with Autoimmune Thyroiditis and Chronic spontaneous urticaria.

However, her journey took a harrowing turn in 2022 with a diagnosis of Churg-Strauss syndrome, or EPGA, becoming her primary concern.

Amid her ongoing treatments, Aquino received yet another blow, with a diagnosis of diffuse scleroderma or Crest Syndrome, marking her fourth disease.

Now, facing the specter of a fifth autoimmune disease, Aquino confronts the relentless onslaught of health challenges with unwavering resolve.

“I refuse to die… I am 53 now and I want to still be here when I am 63,” Aquino declared, defiant in the face of adversity.

In a subsequent interview with Abunda in September 2023, Aquino hinted at further health complications, pointing to potential manifestations of a fifth disease.

She confirmed the setback, citing symptoms such as low hemoglobin, fluctuating blood pressure, and swelling, indicative of an autoimmune mixed connective tissue disease.

Aquino’s genetic predisposition, coupled with her tumultuous health journey, underscores the gravity of her situation.

She revealed a familial history of heart ailments, tracing back to her grandfather, Benigno Aquino Sr., and her father, Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr.

She also disclosed the cardiac struggles of her late brother, former president Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.

As she braces for the crucial months ahead, Aquino leans on the unwavering support of her supporters, imploring them for their prayers.

With the weight of her family’s legacy and the promise she made to her son Bimb, Aquino confronts her mortality with a steely determination to overcome.

“I really want to stay alive… Bimb is only 16. I made a promise to him that until he becomes an adult, I will really do everything [to live] because it’s no secret that his brother falls under the autism spectrum. They still need me,” Aquino affirmed, clinging to hope amidst the shadows of uncertainty.
