Our Response to Fake News Vlogger Filipino Reaction’s Fake Copyright Infringement Complaint on Facebook

The Daily Netizen brings to light a glaring instance of hypocrisy and censorship on Facebook’s platform. Recently, veteran singer and actor Janno Gibbs called out a YouTube vlogger, Filipino Reaction, for propagating libelous fake news to garner views and monetization money.

Yet, instead of facing accountability, Filipino Reaction resorted to underhanded tactics by lodging a bogus copyright infringement complaint against us.

This dubious complaint led to the removal of relevant content from our page, which served as evidence of Filipino Reaction’s deceitful activities.

Ironically, the very vlogger who profited from spreading falsehoods now tries to silence those exposing his dishonesty.

What’s even more appalling is Facebook’s complicity in this charade. By blindly adhering to the baseless copyright claim, Facebook not only hampers the pursuit of truth but also aids and abets the suppression of free speech.

Furthermore, Filipino Reaction’s actions stand in stark contrast to the principles of ethical journalism.

His willingness to sacrifice integrity for clicks and views underscores the depths to which some content creators are willing to sink for fleeting internet fame.

In his emotional plea, Janno Gibbs highlighted the distress caused by these malicious actions, expressing his disdain for those who perpetuate such falsehoods.

To quote Janno Gibbs: “Si Filipino Reaction, ang thumbnail niya— ‘Janno Gibbs umamin na. Umanin na sa kasalanan sa amang si Ronaldo…”

Essentially, we incorporated screenshots of his YouTube thumbnails in our reports and Facebook post as evidence of his shameless peddling of fake news for views and AdSense money!

Janno Gibbs rightfully called out Filipino Reaction and other like-minded individuals, condemning their reckless disregard for truth and decency.

Our appeal to Facebook is simple: rectify this injustice by restoring the removed content and upholding the principles of fairness and transparency. Failure to do so would not only undermine the credibility of your platform but also perpetuate the culture of misinformation and censorship that plagues social media today.

Now here’s our appeal to Facebook:

Subject: Appeal for Incorrect Removal of Image Due to Copyright Infringement

Dear Facebook Review Team,

We are writing to appeal the removal of an image from our Facebook page, which we believe was done in error due to a misunderstanding of the context and relevance of the content. The image in question pertains to a pressing news story in the Philippines involving veteran showbiz actor and singer Janno Gibbs, who recently named a YouTube vlogger known as Filipino Reaction as one of the individuals spreading libelous fake news against him and his family.

The screenshot we posted on our page was intended to serve as evidence of Filipino Reaction’s alleged cyber libel crime. It showcased a thumbnail from his YouTube video, which was part of the misinformation campaign targeting Janno Gibbs and his family. It is crucial to note that Filipino Reaction himself deleted the alleged libelous fake news post on YouTube, which included the thumbnail we captured in our screenshot.

The removal of this image undermines our efforts to shed light on important issues and to hold individuals accountable for their actions, particularly in cases of cyber libel and misinformation. By censoring this evidence, Facebook inadvertently hinders our ability to combat the spread of false information and protect the reputation and rights of individuals like Janno Gibbs.

Furthermore, the use of this screenshot falls within the realm of fair use, as it was employed for the purpose of reporting and discussing a matter of public interest. We did not seek to profit from or misappropriate the content, but rather to contribute to the public discourse on a significant issue affecting our community.

In light of these considerations, we respectfully request that Facebook reconsider its decision to remove the image and restore it to our page. We remain committed to upholding the platform’s community standards and respecting intellectual property rights, and we trust that this appeal will be given due consideration.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Sincerely,

The Daily Netizen
