Dapitan City Mayor Bullet Jalosjos of Dapitan City has vehemently refuted swirling rumors linking him to actor Dominic Roque.
Mayor Jalosjos, flanked by Jay Ruiz and Congressman Bong Suntay, spoke candidly during an interview, stressing the need to address the spread of falsehoods and calling for accountability among those responsible.
“Clarify ko lang, actually ‘yung condo totoong akin talaga ‘yon,” Mayor Jalosjos stated, debunking claims that he bought a condominium unit for Roque, dubbed in rumors as the actor’s “sugar daddy.”
“Ginawa ko siyang Airbnb. Syempre, as a friend, barkada, si Dom, asked me if I want to have it rented. Natawa na nga lang ako bakit tumalon ‘yung issue sa business na binahay na.”
Jalosjos, expressing frustration, called out entertainment insiders for initiating the rumors and noted how netizens had amplified them.
“Sana naman itong mga nagkakalat, claiming they are mga batikang journalist, sana naman ingat ingat rin. They have responsibility to the people dapat fact-finding. Hindi ‘yung nalaman nila nasa pangalan ko ‘yung condo sugar daddy nako bigla. Ang problema doon sinakyan, ginagaslight nila ‘yung issue,” he remarked.
Laughing off the “sugar daddy” allegation, Mayor Bullet remarked, “Ang pangit namang pakinggan.”
He clarified the ownership of the condo unit, asserting his possession of it and its transformation into an Airbnb. However, due to pandemic restrictions, its operation was halted.
He reiterated that Roque, upon his request, rented the condo unit, paying half of the rent, and undertook renovations.
Concerning Roque’s personal struggles, particularly amidst his breakup with actress Bea Alonzo and the ensuing rumors about his sexuality, Jalosjos expressed empathy.
“Naawa rin kami kay Dom. Affected na nga ‘yung tao sa breakup ililink pa kami sa kaniya. Kami pinagtatawanan lang talaga namin pero at some point kailangan talagang tumigil and I think these people have to be reprimanded. Kailangan may consequences, may batas tayo,” he declared.
Presenting a receipt as evidence of Roque’s rental payments, Jalosjos revealed the actor had been leasing the unit for three years under a mutual agreement.
In a related note, Congressman Suntay, also implicated in rumors of financial support to Roque, clarified that the actor merely served as a brand ambassador for his gasoline business.
“Kung talagang magreresearch lang makikita nila as early as five years ago talagang brand ambassador na si Dominic. Ang nakakagulat nga ‘yung pinost pa nilang picture ‘yung contract signing namin ni Dom,” Suntay remarked.
