Amidst the chaos of recent flash floods and storms, a heroic police officer in Dubai braved the rising waters to rescue a stranded cat clinging to a car door handle.

Video footage shared on social media captures the black and white feline desperately holding onto the submerged vehicle as floodwaters surround it. Drenched and with flattened fur, the wide-eyed cat gazes at its rescuer, still clinging tightly to the car.

Undeterred by the cat’s initial reluctance, the brave officer navigates through the water in a small inflatable boat, reaching the stranded pet and gently pulling it off the door. The stunned cat initially scrambles to hold onto the vehicle, unaware that it is being rescued from the murky floodwaters.

After successfully placing the cat in the boat, the officer continues floating ahead, with the curious feline peering over the side at the expansive water around them. The touching rescue was widely shared on social media, drawing praise and admiration from animal lovers around the world.

The rescue comes in the wake of terrifying storms that swept across Dubai on Tuesday, plunging the vibrant city into darkness. Videos from the deluge depict scenes of giant hailstones, flooded buildings, and flying debris, including furniture crashing through underpasses.

The United Arab Emirates experienced severe flooding, with the airport and many surrounding roads submerged. Dozens of flights were cancelled as travelers sought shelter from the torrential downpour in the concourse.

Videos shared online also showed cars filled with water, forcing motorists to abandon their vehicles and swim to safety. Some cars were completely submerged, with only their roofs visible above the waterline.

In one particularly shocking clip, debris from an overhead road suddenly crashes through an underpass, propelled by strong winds and torrential rain.
