Former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque finds himself at the center of speculation surrounding his personal life and associations, raising questions about his sexuality and relationships.
Netizens have been abuzz following revelations tied to a raided Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) hub in Pampanga, which brought to light documents involving Alberto Rodulfo “AR” Dela Serna, a figure linked to Roque.
The controversy intensified with documents revealing that Dela Serna was appointed as Executive Assistant III in Roque’s office for most of 2021, funded by Roque for travel to Europe.
This included a trip spanning Poland, Ukraine, and Italy, where Dela Serna was invited as a speaker at a Peace Process event. Roque defended the arrangement, citing his health conditions and financial capability to cover expenses for a travel companion.
In addition to Dela Serna, another viral issue emerged involving Roque and Ronnie Liang, a well-known Filipino singer and Army Reservist.
Clips surfaced showing a seemingly enamored Roque with Liang, further fueling speculation and public intrigue.
Many netizens reacted with surprise to the viral clips, discovering a potential side of Roque they hadn’t seen before, speculating whether he could be a ‘closeted queen’. Others, however, indicated they had long been aware of the public figure’s sexuality.
“Kadiri si Butanding,” a netizen on TikTok reacted.
“Type nya nya si Ronnie Liang hahaha,” commented another netizen.
“Ok lang manlalaki Ang accla Bastat sariling pera nya Ang ginagastos!” said another TikToker.
Some keen-eyed netizens on TikTok also pointed out Roque’s apparent preference for good-looking Chinito or “Oppa” men, noting that both Dela Serna and Liang fit this description.
Alberto Rodulfo Dela Serna, a Business Administration graduate from Holy Name University in Bohol, gained previous recognition as Mister Supranational Philippines 2016.
Despite his public role, Dela Serna’s involvement with Roque has stirred controversy, compounded by his family’s political background in Bohol.
Roque, who served as spokesperson for former President Rodrigo Duterte, addressed the scrutiny, asserting that Dela Serna and his associates managed his social media during his tenure in Malacañang and electoral campaign.
