Senator Sherwin Gatchalian is intensifying efforts to uncover the truth surrounding the nationality of suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo, amid mounting controversy.

On Tuesday, June 19, 2024, Gatchalian publicly disclosed documents pertaining to the Guo family’s application for a Special Investors Resident Visa (SIRV) from the Board of Investments (BOI) and Bureau of Immigration (BI).

According to Gatchalian, these records suggest that Alice Guo may actually be Guo Hua Ping, who entered the Philippines on January 12, 2003, at the age of 13, with a birthdate of August 31, 1990, Sun Star reported.

He pointed out that Guo Hua Ping’s mother, identified in the SIRV documents as Lin Wenyi, is suspected to be the mayor’s biological mother, based on her extensive involvement in the family’s businesses.

“No matter how hard you try to keep it hidden, the truth will come out,” Gatchalian asserted, emphasizing the inevitability of uncovering the facts.

Mayor Guo has vehemently denied these allegations, maintaining that her true mother is Amelia Leal, and that her birth certificate identifies her as Alice Leal Guo, not Guo Hua Ping as claimed by Gatchalian.

Her legal counsel, Atty. Stephen David, challenged Gatchalian to present his evidence in a proper legal setting, dismissing the accusations as false and potentially violating the Data Privacy Law, particularly regarding the publicized documents such as her Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN).

Gatchalian, however, remains resolute that the documents obtained from BOI and BI will bolster a quo warranto case against Guo, potentially leading to her removal from office, ABS-CBN news reported.

He pointed to striking physical resemblances between the young Guo Hua Ping depicted in the SIRV and Mayor Guo today as evidence of their identity.

The BI and BOI confirmed the authenticity of the documents released by Gatchalian but refrained from preempting the ongoing investigation into whether Alice Guo and Guo Hua Ping are indeed the same person.

They highlighted the Special Investors Resident Visa program’s intention to attract foreign investors with substantial capital investments into the country, with stringent monitoring to prevent abuse.
