‘Boy Dila’ Apologizes to Rider in Person Over Viral ‘Wattah Wattah’ Festival Incident

The man dubbed “Boy Dila” has finally made amends with the rider he soaked with a water gun during San Juan’s “Wattah Wattah” festival.

The playful yet provocative act had drawn widespread attention on social media.

In a social media post on Friday, San Juan Mayor Francis Zamora announced that Lexter Castro, a local resident, personally apologized to the rider during a meeting at San Juan City Hall on Thursday.

“Nawa’y magsilbing leksyon ito sa ating lahat na parati tayong dapat magbigay ng respeto sa kapwa at huwag tayong gumawa ng anumang bagay na maaaring makasakit sa ibang tao, pisikal man o emosyonal,” (May this serve as a lesson to all of us that we should always show respect to others and refrain from actions that may harm others, whether physically or emotionally) Zamora stated.

During a recent press conference called by the mayor, Castro apologized to Zamora, the public, and the rider for his behavior during the city’s festival.

The incident, where Castro doused the rider with water while sticking out his tongue, went viral online.

In his emotional apology, Castro revealed he had received threats and that his family had also been affected by the backlash.

Mayor Zamora had invited the rider to the city hall for the reconciliation, and the rider obliged on Thursday.

Following complaints from the public about being soaked against their will while passing through San Juan, the local government is considering designating specific areas in the city where water activities will be permitted during festivals.
