Sen. Bong Go recently spoke to the media and took to Facebook to assert that he had no direct involvement in former President Rodrigo Duterte’s controversial war on drugs.
He also denied the existence of a reward system during the crackdown, calling such claims “baseless accusations.”
In his latest Facebook post, the senator, who is seeking reelection, reiterated that there was no reward system in place during Duterte’s anti-drug campaign.
Go highlighted the campaign’s impact, boasting that it led to a more peaceful society and a significant drop in crime rates across the country.
However, a video from late 2019 has resurfaced, casting doubt on Go’s statements. The footage, dated September 24, 2019, shows the senator speaking openly about a reward system for law enforcement officers.
In the video, Go can be seen claiming that certain police officers, known as “ninja cops,” were rewarded with one million pesos for killing individuals involved in illegal drugs, and two million pesos if the suspects were killed in an encounter.

The contradiction between Go’s recent denials and his past statements has sparked online backlash, as critics point out that “the internet never forgets.”
The video has reignited debates about the truth behind Duterte’s drug war and the alleged incentivization of extrajudicial actions.
