The Case of Akini Arradaza- Woman Abducted in Broad Daylight, Found Dead at Sea

She had no idea.

The woman in this TikTok video is smiling, dancing… just being herself. Hours later, she would vanish without a trace.

Her name—Akini Arradaza, a mother of three, a gymgoer, a traveler, a former beauty queen in her hometown. And on the morning of July 31, she was kidnapped in broad daylight.

It happened in Barangay Valencia, Ormoc City, right in front of their small store. Three armed men forced her into a black Toyota Wigo, then sped off toward Kananga, Leyte. All caught on CCTV.

That was the last time anyone saw her alive.

Four days later, on August 4, over 100 kilometers away, a fisherman in Barangay 94-Tigbao, Tacloban City, heard whispers from the sea. Another fisherman tipped him off—something was floating in the water.

He rowed out.

There, drifting lifelessly near the shores of Sitio Calero, Brgy. 99-Diit, was a woman’s body—bloatednaked, the face covered with a black clothwrapped in blue duct tape. Her hands, feet, and neckbound tightly by a single hammock rope. Her tongue was sticking outher eyes bulging—a clear sign of strangulation.

Police recovered the body and quickly noted something: distinct tattoos—on her abdomen, on her back, near her waist. Investigators cross-checked missing persons cases, and one name surfaced again and again—Akini Arradaza.

Relatives were called in. They confirmed what everyone feared: the body in the sea was hers.

She had just celebrated her birthday in May. Her TikTok account showed no signs of trouble—no boyfriend, no enemies, no rants. Just dance videos, travel clips, gym workouts, and a quiet kind of joy.

So what happened? And why?

If this was about rape, why take her so far from Ormoc? Why dump her in the sea in Tacloban?

Netizens are asking: was there a deeper motiveA planned killingA message?

Authorities say they’ve identified the getaway vehicle, and they are now tracking it down. But the men behind the crime are still out there.

According to Police Regional Office 8, led by PBGEN Jay Cumigad, a full-scale investigation is ongoing. Multiple police units across the region are coordinating to find answers and give Akini the justice she deserves.

And for now, her last TikTok stands as a haunting reminder—that behind the filters and the music, someone’s real life can change in a blink.
