Claims Other Foreigners Also Fell Prey to the Scam
A foreign buyer using the TikTok handle @artismou8 has accused Century Properties, one of the Philippines’ leading real estate developers, of alleged fraud and illegal seizure of his condominium unit, warning other buyers about what he claims is a pattern of abusive practices.
In a online expose, the expat said he had allegedly paid nearly 90% of the unit’s total price over seven years — about ₱4.8 million out of a ₱6 million contract — leaving a remaining balance of less than ₱900,000.
According to him, on Jan. 5, 2024, when he visited his unit after the holidays, he discovered that Century Properties had allegedly broken into the condo and changed the locks without due process.
He described the move as an alleged criminal act and illegal lockout, despite his status as the long-term buyer with near-full payment.
He further claimed the unit was allegedly resold to another buyer, even as he was still in communication with the company about settling minor payment delays during the pandemic.
The expat also alleged that he is not alone. According to him, a number of foreign buyers also fell prey to the same scheme, including Malaysians, Chinese, and Europeans who allegedly lost access to their units after pandemic-related payment issues.
Now, the TikToker is seeking legal advice and urging local and foreign investors to be cautious when dealing with Century Properties, as he pursues possible legal action against the company.
