Netizens Cheer the Arrest of pro-Duterte Fanatic Jam Magno for Acts of Violence Against Women and Children

When die-hard pro-Duterte and notorious social media figure Jam Magno trends on social media, particularly on X (formerly Twitter), it’s usually because she has once again maliciously attacked someone online or for some other controversial reason.

However, this time, Magno has reportedly been arrested on Tuesday, December 12, for alleged violation of RA 9262, also known as the Violation Against Women and Children Act.

The warrant of arrest was issued by Judge Ali Joseph Ryan Chiong Lloren of RTC Branch 37, 7th Judicial Region, Cagayan de Oro.

Magno is just one of the Duterte supporters who have recently faced justice following the start of an investigation into SMNI, the notorious pro-Duterte and pro-China network.

The investigation centers around allegations of violating its franchise, triggered by one of its anchors, red-tagger Jeffrey ‘Ka Eric’ Celiz, spreading fake news that House Speaker Martin Romualdez spent P1.8 billion in travel expenses.

During the last hearing on December 8, veteran media personality Jay Sonza appeared during the investigation, claiming to be SMNI’s consultant. Sonza was forced to admit that he gets paid P1 million monthly for his consultancy work.

Like Magno, Sonza, also a notorious Duterte supporter, made numerous defamatory social media posts against former Vice President Leni Robredo and was arrested and jailed in August for estafa and illegal recruitment charges.

However, one of Magno’s latest social media rants shows she attempted to be neutral on the worsening political feud between Vice President Sara Duterte and Romualdez.

She claimed that she still supports the regime. In that video, Magno defended Romualdez, calling him a “statesman.”

However, Magno’s attempt to shift the blame to the so-called UniTeam’s critics was quickly undermined by former President Rodrigo Duterte’s recent brutal attacks on Romualdez and the current congress, calling it “corrupt” and “rotten”, followed by the congressional committee on legislative franchises investigation into SMNI.

A mugshot of Magno quickly went viral, showing her smiling at the camera.

Netizens who celebrated Magno’s arrest noted the unusual demeanor in her mugshot, with many expressing the belief that she deserved her fate.

Magno later took to Facebook to explain why she smiled in her mugshot photo.

“I smiled because I am NOT guilty,” she said in her Facebook post.

“Have you ever seen a mugshot that’s much prettier than mine? Still dili makatarog. Funny that people said I was arrested. Hahahahahaha. Correction. I surrendered and posted my 72,000 peso bail and did NOT ask for a discount, and I was escorted by an entire TEAM of Butuan’s BEST. So kalma mga abog. Dili gihapon mo katarog.”

Her post quickly became viral, shared over 1,200 times and gaining over 3,300 laughter emojis as of this posting.

There are, however, no details yet regarding Magno’s case, but she seemed to be proud to have posted bail.

“Sana all confident pa rin kahit na-aresto na,” someone commented on Facebook.

“Ang yabang na nakapag-piyansa ng 72k. Hindi daw humingi ng discount. May discount ba ang piyansa?” Another netizen commented on X.

“Jam Magno smiles as if hindi sya affected. Bitch, you still had to surrender your pathetic self & post bail. Walang wonderful experience sa usaping legal, guilty or not. But of course, you’d say you loved it cuz you know you’re a sorry excuse for a human being,” Janice Tarroza commented on X.
