Former President Donald Trump narrowly escaped an assassination attempt during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, Saturday evening when a lone shooter opened fire from a rooftop approximately 130 yards away.
One bullet grazed Trump’s ear before Secret Service agents swiftly neutralized the shooter with fatal shots.
Thomas Matthew Crooks, identified as a resident of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, fired shots from a rooftop over 130 yards away, one of which grazed Trump’s ear before he was swiftly killed by Secret Service snipers, New York Post reported.
The 20-year-old Crooks targeted Trump at the outdoor event prompting chaos among attendees.
An AR-style rifle was recovered from the scene, highlighting the severity of the incident in this quiet village located 40 miles south of Butler.
The motive behind Crooks’ attack remains unclear, though initial reports suggest he acted alone in his deadly assault on the former president and attendees.
A Trump supporter was also tragically killed by gunfire in the chaos that ensued.
Recent reports have, however, revealed Crooks’ ties to liberal causes.
Federal Election Commission data uncovered by The National Pulse shows that Crooks had donated to the Progressive Turnout Project through ActBlue, a platform supporting left-wing candidates.
Witnesses described the chaos as law enforcement quickly intervened after the shooting began, escorting Trump to safety as he encouraged the crowd to remain strong.
“Fight! Fight! Fight!” Trump reported shouted, his ear and cheek wounded by the bullet.

In a statement on social media, Trump expressed gratitude to law enforcement and voiced disbelief at the violent attack. “It is incredible that such an act can take place in our Country,” he wrote. “GOD BLESS AMERICA!”
President Joe Biden addressed the nation, condemning the violence and pledging support to the investigation.
His campaign suspended advertising in response to the incident, which the Secret Service described as an ongoing investigation.
The attempted assassination underscores heightened political tensions in the United States as security measures at public events face renewed scrutiny.
You left out that he was a registered Republican.
